Though America is young, is it finally ready for “the talk?” I used to think so, but I wonder, now…
Many times, I was the one who wanted to jump into a discussion with honesty on my sleeve-wrapped around my heart.
I believe in the dream of being part of a greater America than its bloody past-with humans swaying in the wind, and families broken apart for money, power-GREED.
There was a need for someone to lead “the least of these” out again, into a different kind of promised land. Over generations, God still speaks to those who love Him. I think of a small, humble man, leading his people to remain peacefully firm and unafraid. They were beaten, yet fasted for reason, truth and equality… The system was overcome by one-then another and so on…inspiring many like Martin, and later another who continues the dream to this day…
Old beliefs are strong, and I am convinced that only love can sway a heart and mind, bringing about true change. Who has eyes to see-could it be you?
Years later, and who has forgotten? The lingering alliances with ignorance, and bitterness…Can we truly get over this in my lifetime? There is hope as long as Jesus reigns, and that is forever. Never mind the naysayers, as change happens in each human heart, in its own time. I’ll be just fine in knowing that it is all in HIS hands, and I can sit or stand for truth in love.
Lord, lead me to your promise, although I sense that it’s not to be found in such a place. There is no space here for forced truth-Gandhi knew, and now, so do I.
Another good post.
Thanks, Helen…I tried to comment on “A Great Quote,” but it’s not letting me. I’m wondering if it’s just some glitch on my side. I will check back to see if anyone else is able to.
Enjoy your day!
